Now let us see how does a safety valve work?

The main body of a safety valve is typically made of metal and is connected to the system or vessel from which excess pressure needs to be relieved. The disc is a crucial component that covers the valve opening. It is held in place by a spring or other means and is designed to “pop” open when the pressure exceeds a predetermined set point.

Spring: The spring is responsible for holding the disc in the closed position. The force exerted by the spring opposes the force created by the pressure within the system. The set point is the predetermined pressure level at which the safety valve is designed to open and start relieving pressure. This value is carefully calibrated based on the design specifications and the requirements of the system.

 During normal operation, the pressure within the system is below the set point, and the disc remains firmly pressed against the valve seat, preventing the escape of fluids or gases.  If the pressure within the system exceeds the set point, the force exerted by the pressure overcomes the force of the spring, causing the disc to lift off its seat.As the disc lifts, the valve opens, allowing the excess fluid or gas to be discharged from the system, preventing a dangerous build-up of pressure.
